Learn Bartending From the Professionals!

The Nashville campus of the Professional Bartending School opened in 1992, and has been under the direction of David Edwards since then. Due to the central location of our school, we are only a 15 to 20 minute drive from most areas of Nashville.

Professional Bartending School of Nashville is licensed by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. We are a state-licensed trade school and have trained over 6,000 people, of all ages and backgrounds, for a rewarding career in bartending.

As a state-licensed trade school, we operate in a professional and ethical manner. All of our websites meet the licensing requirements for our school. We are proud of our school and our accomplishments over the last 15 years of training professional bartenders right here in Nashville.

Our staff has many years experience bartending in some of Nashvilles best establishments. Our school has placed graduates throughout Nashville and the surrounding areas in great jobs.

Our local campus and students have been featured in many local papers and T.V. stations and most recently was featured on Channel 2 News. Our graduates have also appeared on the CMT Network making drinks on the CMT Top 20 countdown and the upcoming reality show "The Ultimate Coyote Ugly Search" which highlights bartending and the art of flair bartending.

Get a nightlife - be a bartender! 1 800 BARTEND

Have you ever looked around a Nashville bar, curiously envying the happy bartenders having a great time while raking in gobs of money?  Did you wonder how they learned the skills necessary to pour drinks so quickly, remember all those recipes, and keep their cool all at the same time?   How did they get there?  Could I learn to do that?

Bartending in the Greater Nashville area can be a tough world to break into.  Corner bars with on-the-job training are few and far between. Todays customers are more educated and sophisticated than ever before.  They come from all over the world, they know about wine, they enjoy the scene and they have become more demanding.

Nashville customers are looking for a bartender who is as knowledgeable, as personable, and as demanding as they are.  In this more professional bartending environment-if you’re not fast, organized, and efficient you surely won’t last very long in Nashville.

Our school is locally owned and operated by David and Quinn Edwards, who work at the school every day. PBS of Nashville has created top-quality bartending programs to answer the demand for professionally trained bartenders. We provide bartending education, organizational skills and customer service training.

Our school also offers the ServSafe alcohol awareness training program that allows students to receive an Alcohol Beverage Commission server permit which is a requirement in Tennessee for servers and bartenders that serve alcohol. This is a five hour program and will allow you to get a five year permit to legally serve alcohol in Tennessee.

PBS of Nashville has teamed up with well known authors, TV, and radio personalities "The Saucy Sisters" for the Nashville Wine Seminar. Beverly and Barbara, "The Saucy Sisters", host their own radio show "Sauced!" on WLAC and have written a number of books and articles on wine, food, and entertaining.

This 3 hour fun and comprehensive wine seminar covers everything from food and wine pairings, classifications of wine, proper presentation and service procedures, reading labels, storing wine, proper glassware, wine tasting (for those over 21 years of age), and basically a comprehensive seminar to teach you the ins and outs of wine.

This seminar is open to the general public as well as past graduates of the Professional Bartending School.  This seminar is designed for bartenders, future bartenders, servers, bar and restaurant managers, or anyone who enjoys wine and would like to learn more about it.  Professional Bartending School offers a variety of seminars in addition to the wine seminar.  The flair and wine seminars will help separate you from your competition and make you a more complete bartender, server, or manager.

The Nashville Wine Seminar featuring "The Saucy Sisters" is only $75.00 and includes an autographed copy of the Saucy Sisters' latest book "The Everything Wine Book", wine tasting, class materials, and 3 hours of learning with the fun and enjoyable wine experts "The Saucy Sisters".  Visit their website at www.saucysisters.com.  Contact the Professional Bartending School at (615) 885-5801 to reserve your spot in the next upcoming wine seminar.  The first seminar is scheduled for May 29th, 2008 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  Laugh and learn with "The Saucy Sisters!"

A Night at the Circus and Visiting Green Hills Grads!!
February 7, 2008

Recently, David and Quinn were at it again visiting some of our most recent graduates.  They started off with a trip to Green Hills.  First stop was at the California Pizza Kitchen.  This place is beautiful with an upscale main bar.  Quinn and David sat at the bar and had dinner with past graduate Ginny.  This is Ginny's second job since she graduated and she is now the Bar Supervisor for the Green Hills location.  She loves her new job and mentioned she had made over $350.00 in one night the previous week.  The pizza was awesome and the drinks were even better.

Next stop was down the street at La Paz.  This by far is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Nashville area, plus it has a happening bar scene.  David went in and visited with Matt who recently graduated the Nashville location.  It was early, but Matt informed David that the night before was slammed and he was expecting another big night ahead of him.  David couldn't stay long because he had clowns to go see.  David promised Matt he would come back some other night to test Matt's pitchers of Margaritas.

Finally, in good spirits, David and Quinn made it to the Sommett Center and attended the Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus. The circus was entertaining, almost as entertaining as visiting our graduates.   If you are a past graduate and would like for the staff to come and visit you at your bar, so your picture can go on our Wall of Fame, call (615) 885-5800 and ask for David.

A Night of Visiting Graduates and Hockey!
December 13, 2007

PBS Staff David and Quinn attended the Predators and Redwings game on Monday, December 10th.  Though it was a successful night for seeing and visiting graduates, it wasn't so successful for the Predators who lost 2 to 1 against Detroit.

Walking down Broadway, we made a few stops at some of the famous watering holes on Lower Broadway.  Dana was bartending the main bar at Broadway Brewhouse.  She had a variety of customers from both sides of the hockey world,  quite a few Predator jerseys blended in with a few red jerseys from the Redwing fans.  It was a little crazy getting to the bar, so we moved further down Broadway to the world famous Tootsie's Orchid Lounge where our recent graduate Trish was working the main bar.  The music was awesome as was the excellent service Trish provided us.  Between the music and a few cold ones we were ready for some hockey.

At the Predator's game, I visited with Michael S. at the main club level bar.  He is a musician who had just gotten off the road and was filling in for the Predators through the month of December and then he is going back on the road with Billy Ray Cyrus.  He just can't stay away from bartending.  He looked happy to be back behind his favorite bar at the Sommet Center, where he has bartended off and on for the last 3 years with Gene the other main bartender.  Also, I stopped by and visited with Joe another graduate who promptly announced to his line of customers that I taught him how to bartend.  He almost made me blush.

Besides the Predators losing, it was a great night of visiting graduates.  There is another game tonight so Go Predators and PBS graduates.  Don't let anyone tell you that you don't need bartending school.  Our grads get and keep the best jobs in town!!

Panama City Beach Success Story!
August 29, 2007

Quinn and I recently traveled to Panama City, Florida to visit Larry Miller a recent graduate of our campus. Larry is a native of Panama City and chose to attend the Nashville campus after researching many bartending schools in the South. Larry who works in the real estate business, decided he wanted to do something fun and profitable on the side and decided to attend the Nashville campus. He was quite surprised when Quinn and I showed up at his lounge. Visiting students is one of our favorite parts of our job.

Larry landed a job at Angelo's Steak Pit www.angelos-steakpit.com which is one of the Top 5 Restauarants in the Panama City Beach area. Larry works full time at Angelo's and loves the money he makes and the flexible hours. He says bartending was the most fun he's ever had working. On busy nights, bartenders at Angelo's earn $300.00 or more a night and typcially have standing room only in the lounge area. It's a happening lounge, Quinn and I enjoyed a few of the fun house drinks that Larry suggested.

Of course, Quinn and I stayed a few extra days in Panama City conducting field research. We also attemped to visit another recent graduate named Kellon who works at Salty's Beach Bar. We think he must have been on vacation, but this gives us another reason to head back down to Panama City Beach in the fall. Congratulation Larry and Kellon for making us proud here at the Nashville campus.

PBS Nashville Named School of the Year 2006!!
June 22, 2007

The Nashville staff recently attended PBSA's National Leadership Conference in Ft. Myers, Florida on June 9th and 10th, 2007.  The meeting was held at the beautiful Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa.  Representing the Nashville location at the conference was David Edwards, Director, Quinn Edwards, Assistant Director, Victor Deaton, Instructor, and Randy Jansen, Job Placement Director and Instructor.

There was a variety of speakers at this years conference.  One of the speakers was John Barrett of the Brown-Forman Corporation.  John Barrett is nationally known as "The Whiskey Professor" and the original brewmaster of Jack Daniels beer.  He gave his presentation on "Whiskies of the World".  It was not only educational, but the taste test was enjoyed by everyone in attendance.

During the conference there was an instructor and director quiz handed out to test the knowledge of PBSA school staff.  Victor Deaton from Nashville won the Instructor quiz and received a one hundred dollar bill for his efforts.

On Saturday night, the Annual Awards banquet was held.  Nashville walked away as the big winner.  The Nashville campus won its School of the Year for the 7th time in the last 8 years.  This was not a shock to the Nashville staff who had an excellent year of training and placing students.  But the big news of the evening was Victor Deaton who won the Instructor of the Year for 2006.  This was the first Instructor of the Year award ever given to the Nashville Campus.  A special congratulations goes out to Victor Deaton.  David Edwards also won a Contribution Award for his contributions to the PBSA system.  Congratulations to the entire Nashville staff for an excellent year.  It's a group effort to win School of the Year this many years in a row and all of the Nashville staff should be proud!!

Visiting Recent Graduates!!
April 12, 2007
Email to Friend

The staff of PBS of Nashville visited several recent graduates on the job in the last couple of  weeks.  Graduates have expressed to us that they enjoy our visits and also are excited to have their pictures taken to go on our Wall of Fame and on our website.  Other chains of bartending schools typically just list places they supposedly place people at and then show the same four or five pictures of the same people on every one of their locations websites, but we believe the proof is in the pictures of actual graduates working on the job.  A pictures worth a thousand words.  Our staff truly cares about students and what happens to them after they graduate.

David and Quinn made another successful trip to downtown Nashville to visit some past graduates.  We stopped in Bailey's Sports Grill on Broaway and visited Chase R., a recent graduate of the school.  Chase has done an outstanding job at Bailey's.  His bar was packed with Predators fans!! it was so busy we had to stand at the bar.  Chase seemed not to mind, his tip jar was completely full.

We then went across the street to Merchant's Restuarant on Broadway and visited Jeff E., one of our favorite past graduates, and watched him also handle a slammed bar.  The place was packed but we did manage to get a couple of stools and hang out with him until game time at the Nashville Arena.

We headed to the Nashville Arena to see some Predators hockey and stopped at the main bar on Club Level where Umeka, who had just recently graduated from the school, was working.  It was a sell out at the arena, so Umeka was slammed all night.

Finally, after the game, we stopped at the Renaissance Hotel lobby bar and ran into Aaron L., a former graduate working a nice business crowd.  Aaron had been at the Renaissance for about a year, and was talking about maybe transferring to a Renaissance Hotel out in Colorado.  He filled us in on the great health benefits and other perks for working at the Renaissance Hotel. That concluded a great night of visiting our grads on the job.  Keep up the good work PBS students!!

PBS Attends Cadillac Ranch Grand Opening!
March 14, 2007

David and Quinn recently attended the VIP Grand Opening Party at Cadillac Ranch. Visit Cadillac Ranch on the web at www.cadillacranchnashville.com.  We visited with many past and recent graduates who were enjoying the opening night festivities along with making great money.  The place was loaded with interesting individuals including The Naked Cowboy straight from Times Square in New York City.  Quinn promptly posed with him for a quick picture.  We talked to graduates working the main bars downstair and also visited a few upstairs. We love adding new pictures to our Wall of Fame. (Past Nashville graduates on the job over the last 15 years in our lobby!)  Bartenders/graduates working on hand that night was Charissa James, Lynda Briggs, Clayton Hopper, and Amy Pawlak.  Congratulations to these past students.  Make that money!!!

Visit to the GEC!!
February 8, 2007

On a recent trip to see the Nashville Predators play at the Gaylord Entertainment Center, I ran into several of our graduates having fun and making money.  At the main bar on the first floor I saw Bill, a past graduate who also works at TPAC serving a group of customers.  I moved up to the second floor (club level), where Michael, another past graduate, was working the main bar and his bar was also full.  Michael also has worked outside the GEC at various bars.  I was on a roll, so I went to the third floor and saw another past graduate, Joseph bartending.  He informed me that recently he had worked a Bob Segar concert and made in tips alone $280.00.  This gives me great pleasure going out and seeing my graduates get and keep the best jobs in town!!
